How key fob programming works
A key fob is the small remote that locks and unlocks your car. On many cars, it also starts the engine.
A new fob does not work right out of the package. It has to be set up to talk to your car. This is called programming.
We do this for you. We use professional programming tools, including Autel and Xhorse equipment.
Many fobs also have a metal key blade tucked inside. We can cut that blade to fit your doors, too.

What to have ready when you call
- The year, make and model of your vehicle.
- All of your existing keys and fobs, even ones that do not work well. On some vehicles, adding a new key can stop keys that are not there from working.
- The vehicle itself. The fob is programmed to your car, so the car needs to be there.

Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM. Closed Saturday and Sunday.
Appointments preferred. If I'm not at the shop, I can usually be there in about 10 minutes.

Common questions
Do I need to bring my car?
Yes. The key fob is programmed to your car, so the vehicle needs to be there. You can come to our Florence shop, or ask about mobile service along US-101.
Can you program a key fob if I lost all of mine?

Can you program a key fob I bought online?
Please call before you buy. Some fobs sold online are the wrong type for your vehicle, or cannot be programmed. Tell us which fob you have, and we will let you know.
